The routine of turning a site design from a set of pictures into a fully realized creation has always been a process. In recent years, many developers have relied to plugins like Advanced Custom Fields and a bevy of PHP templates to create a layout. Or, some have gone down the route of using page-builder plugins to create flexible layouts that accomplish the job, but can be fragile and complicated. In this talk, I’ll show how to take a set of screens from a designer and create a modular theme based on the Gutenberg Block editor.
